  • Feel great about your skin!

  • Acne

Acne is a long-term skin disease caused when hair follicles become clogged with oil produced by the skin.  Acne symptoms include: pimples, blackheads, greasy skin and in some cases, may result in scarring.  Primarily, acne occurs during adolescence, affecting approximately 80% of teenagers in the United States.

    Should I Treat My Acne?

Unfortunately, non professionals suggest letting acne run its course, that, in time, one will grow out of it.  However, Dermatologists know that without treatment, dark spots and permanent scars can appear even when the skin clears of acne.  More importantly, many effective acne treatments are available.

Holderness Plastic Surgery offers clinically-proven acne treatments to promote healthy skin that is blemish-free and clear.  Request a consultation online or call us at 336-275-0919 to schedule your appointment.

Upon evaluation and diagnosis, your physician will recommend one of the following treatments:

    • Traditional Approaches:  many of our patients enjoy success with less aggressive, traditional methods of acne treatment, such as antibiotics or topical products.
    • Extractions:  with this procedure, light pressure is applied to the problem areas using a medical tool to release clogged pores.   We have seen excellent results with difficult-to-remove blackheads and whiteheads.
    • Microdermabrasion:  a procedure where gentle exfoliation removes dirt and debris from pores and buffs away dead skin cells.
    • Accutane ®:  is a prescription-only oral medication that treats acne from the inside.  Accutane is primarily used for severe cases of acne.
    • Chemical Peels:  are excellent for addressing minor imperfections and in some cases, acne scar removal.  Chemical peels are often not recommended for active or inflamed acne.

We are proud to be a local provider of ZO Skin Health products that have proven successful in treating a variety of Acne conditions.
